Most of them were playing card games and backgammon while smoking hookah, while few of them were actually watching the game. I guess they didn’t have any interest in watching 2 colonial state playing. Meet Shukri Lawrence aka @wifirider, a 19-years old inspiring Palestinian born and raised in East Jerusalem. Last year, he launched his brand called “Trashy Clothing”. Part of the Palestinian Queer scene, he explained to me that he wanted people to take back their freedom, he wants to help his community and he wants to reclaim the cliché that people have about Arabs. Fighting the stereotype of people in the Middle East by using fashion is basically his political statement for what he is trying to do. Reclaiming his body, his sexuality and empowering others to do what they want to do and be who they want to be.
